Asian-Style Turkey-Pork Meatballs

Yield: 36 to 40 meatballs
  • 500 grams minced turkey / chicken
  • 500 grams minced pork
  • 1 cup finely chopped spring onion (about 3 stalks)
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon peeled grated ginger
  • 1½ tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (reduce if you don't like it too strong)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Dash of white pepper
  1. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Set aside.
  2. Combine all the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Use your hands and mix them together thoroughly.
  3. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mix and roll them into meatballs. Place on the lined baking sheet. Freeze the meatballs for at least 1 hour until firm, then store them in a ziploc bag.
To cook the meatballs:
  1. Preheat the oven to 190C / 375F. Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Place the meatballs on top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping them once.For more flavour, sear the meatballs in a frying pan until both sides are browned before baking them. Reduce the baking time by 5 to 10 minutes. The meatballs can be served hot, warm or at room temperature.
