Watermelon Iced Tea

Inactive time not included: Steeping and chilling time for the tea
Yield: Makes 1.2 litres of tea (Serves 4 to 6)
  • 1 litre water
  • 4 teaspoons black tea leaves (or 2 black tea bags)
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 200 grams watermelon, seeds removed and blended into a juice
  • Additional simple sugar syrup for serving
  1. Bring water to a boil and stir in tea leaves (or tea bags) and sugar. Steep the tea for 2 hours.
  2. Strain the tea and chill the tea completely in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Stir the pureed watermelon into the chilled tea. Taste and add more syrup if you prefer the tea to be sweeter. Pour into glasses and serve.
Naggy Notes
- To make a simple sugar syrup, dissolve sugar into hot water in a ratio of 1:2 (1 tablespoon sugar to 2 tablespoons water).
