Classic Spritz Cookies

Classic Spritz Cookies - starring....!
I know I’m a little early, but I seriously cannot wait until Christmas to use the cookie press that my friend bought it for me to make these buttery, yummy little Spritz cookies. Spritz cookies are actually traditional little Christmas cookies in Scandinavian countries. They are simply butter cookies, shaped by putting the dough through a cookie press. They are often decorated before/after baking to make them colourful and festive.
I got the cookie press a few months back from my friend and have been dying to use it since then. Imagine cute little cookies being pressed out evenly from the press. There is a total of twelve shapes to choose from, in which I have only used eleven of them, due to the lack of dough (I halved the original recipe). They are so good and yummy, that I just kept popping these little treats into my mouth. Mmmm…!

Some cookie press allow you to decide how much dough you want per cookie, however, for this version of cookie press, they have this mechanism that clicks once a cookie is pressed out, ensuring completely even cookies. And you know what even cookies mean! Even baking time! I really love this cookie press. Love love love. I can make cookies using them for plenty of occasions – Valentine’s Day, Christmas… or simply when you want to have some butter cookies.

The recipe I used is from the one printed on the box of the cookie press. But a search on the Internet will also yield plenty of Spritz cookie recipes, so I guess I’ll just leave the recipe out – until I chance upon a recipe that yields irresistable cookies such that it will be a sin to not share the recipe with everyone.

Moral of the story? Get a cookie press! Just imagine the fun and the possibilities. It’s endless!

Ughh it’s almost 3am here in Singapore. I’m gonna catch a good night/morning sleep. Meanwhile, enjoy the cookies!
