Little Thumbs Up July 2014: Potato!

Twice Baked Potatoes Baked Fries Potato Salad
Potato-Surprise Meatballs Potato-Carrot Mash Gratin of Potatoes
Potato Hash Rosti with Egg Potato-Mozzarella Croquettes

Are you ready to bake/cook potatoes with me?

When Zoe asked me whether I want to host Little Thumbs Up in 2014, I was really honoured and excited. I ended up choosing potato as that was one of my favourite food.

Potato is the world’s fourth-largest food crop, with 2/3 of the global potato production is eaten directly by humans while the rest are being fed to animals or used to product starch. There are around 5,000 different varieties worldwide! Potatoes fall basically into 2 main categories: starchy or waxy. Starchy potatoes are very fluffy and don’t hold together very well when cooked, while waxy potatoes have a smoother texture and hold their shape while cooking. I used to love waxy potatoes a lot more as they taste less powdery, but I’ve now grown to love starchy potatoes, especially when they are mashed!

Potatoes are so versatile – they can be deep-fried, boiled/steamed, baked, roasted… and all taste so good! They can also be combined with many flavours and other ingredients to create a hearty and delicious dish.

So what are you waiting for? Grab some potatoes and start cooking now! Can’t wait to see the many delicious potato recipes that you all have!

To join this event, simply cook or bake any recipe
using the ingredient of the month ~ POTATO.

The recipes that you use can be your own, from cookbooks, magazines or websites (do credit these sources accordingly in your blog post!)

Submit as many POTATO recipes you like by linking to the thumbnail link provided at the bottom of this post.

Please take note on the following:-

  • Your submission must be a current and new post uploaded in the month of June July 2014, older posts are not accepted.
