Media Invite: SUFOOD

DSC00651 DSC00652

I was invited to a media tasting event a few weeks back at Sufood, Taiwan’s largest vegetarian restaurant chain. Its Italian-inspired menu uses about 200 ingredients focusing on its freshness – with many ingredients sourced regionally and all food is prepared with no artificial flavourings or MSG.

To commemorate the launch, SUFOOD held a Guinness World Record® setting event for “Most pizzas made in 12 hours”, achieving a record 3,574 pizzas. The event raised $12,015.50 with all proceeds going towards Pink Ribbon Walk, a walk against breast cancer organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Upon entering, we were greeted with a table of the set menu items that we will be having later. Set menus are reasonably priced at $25++, and the portion is so huge that I think it can be shared between 2 people!

Set menu with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. A little souvenir for us to bring home.

Featuring 4 special blend of drinks. We tried the Ashitaba and the Passion Fruit Calamansi Tea, pretty refreshing!

The appetiser – poached Japanese Yuca root drizzled with blueberry coulis, oriental white water snowflake greens and a savoury cherry tomato jelly. Rosemary breadsticks – soft and flavourful. Great for dipping in the creamy soups.

Baked Potato Al Funghi

To make up for the lack of meat in its dishes, Sufood uses a lot of mushrooms in their dishes. There were so much mushrooms that even for a mushroom lover like me, I got a little sick of them.

Homemade Vegetable Calzone

The calzone was so huge that I couldn’t finish it. Even if I have ordered it as an ala carte, I think I will have problem finishing it too. There are a wide variety of vegetables inside, but I found the filling a little too moist, making the calzone a little soggy.

Sesame Panna Cotta – a thin layer of sesame paste was poured on top of the plain panna cotta. Banana Cheesecake – personally I prefer a softer cheesecake.

Overall it was a pleasant and extremely filling experience (we were sooo stuffed!) A huge thank you to Sufood and Ogilvy for the invite. If you a vegetarian / vegan or simply want to embrace a more green diet, do head to Sufood for a try!

SUFOOD is located at:

#02-19 Raffles City

11.30am to 3.30pm

5.50pm – 10.00pm
