Thank You 2014

And just like that, we have reached the last day of 2014. Let’s do a quick lookback of what had happened this year!

Travel

I’ve added 4 new places to my visited list:

East Java, Indonesia

Mt. Bromo, Mt. Batok and Mt. Semeru

An extremely beautiful and scenic place, watching sunrise everyday at different parts of Indonesia. The highlight of the trip is the 2-hour hike up Mt. Ijen, in which I learned the tough livelihood of the sulphur miners. Will be blogging about it after my long overdue post on Cambodia! (Ooops!)

Maldives

Finally visited this country which is reputedly sinking several centimetres every year. The views are amazing but the price is really exhorbitant. Won’t be blogging about it as we stayed only at a resort and didn’t explore much. Will be heading back in the future for a more localised trip, and will blog about it when I do!

Penang, Malaysia

Famous mural in Penang – Little Children on Bicycle

My colleagues and I bore the intense heat to hunt down the best food and wall murals during our 3-day-2-night stay in Penang in October. Also an upcoming travelogue!

Ho Chi Minh and Mui Ne, Vietnam

Last trip of the year was to Vietnam, where we also had lots of fun hunting for the best pho, best Vietnamese coffee, best banh mi, best street food and best shopping deals!

Macau / Zhuhai / Hong Kong / Shenzhen

I’ve also had the chance to revisit Macau and Hong Kong this year with my mom (I haven’t even finish processing these photos oops!) We’ve also added Zhuhai and Shenzhen in for our shopping trips (shopping is amazing!)

Food

Let’s take a look… 18 new savoury recipes and 14 new sweets recipes are posted in 2014, a drastic drop as compared to last year. In general, time spent in the kitchen and in front of my laptop blogging this year is a lot lesser, and some recipes didn’t meet the bar to be blogged. But still, I have a lot of backlog recipes! So the numbers will be picked up in 2015 d:

My favourite savoury and sweet posts for 2015 goes to: One Pot Beer Mussels and Durian Cheesecake!

Events and Sponsors

I always count my blessings whenever I’m invited to an event or gifted with products. It keeps me motivated to blog more often and deliver better and higher-quality blog pieces.

I’m thankful for all the opportunities that come my way this year. It was a privilege to be invited to food tasting event and an honor to meet Maria Sharapova life (and taking solo photo with her!) I was also thrilled to receive the special edition Tiger Beer (which some were used to cook yummy mussels!)

Thank you!

Blog

In 20013, I moved from WordPress to Blogger. After less than a year with Blogger, I shifted back to WordPress, with a new layout and much better blog functions! I spent almost 2 months, from hunting and customising blog designs, to testing how to shift over from Blogger to WordPress, to the final move. I’m in the midst of crafting out an ingredients list so that it will be easier to search for recipes via ingredients. I will also be making amendments to the recipe index, still experimenting different ways to present the recipes!

If you think there’s any way to improve on the layout / design of the blog, I’d love to hear them!

Thank you 2014

Last but definitely not the least, my heartfelt thanks to all you readers out there, who continue to visit my blog even though I’m such an infrequent blogger this year! I received a greeting from a reader just yesterday complimenting the blog and it was such a lovely surprise!

Thank you all for the support, encouragement and love you have showered Foodie Baker this year! I hope to deliver more and better quality posts and I certainly wish to know more of you in the coming year. I’ll see you all again in 2015, with many more recipes and travelogues coming your way!

Happy New Year!
